Caroline Moriarty

President

Caroline Moriarty is a sophomore studying political science and music at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Caroline has been involved in UMKC College Democrats since her freshman year, serving as communications director and vice president. She also has interned with U.S. senators in Washington, DC and Kansas City. Along with her role as President of College Democrats of Missouri, Caroline is a Trustees’ Scholar and Mortar Board member. Outside of school, Caroline loves to cook new recipes, practice violin, and explore Kansas City’s many coffee shops. After graduation, Caroline plans on going to law school.

Reece Ellis

Vice President

Reece Ellis is a proud native of St.Louis, Missouri. He is a sophomore at Truman State University, where he studies Political Science and Justice Systems. Reece has been involved with College Democrats since his freshman year in 2017. In December of that year, he was elected Vice President of Truman’s chapter of College Democrats. During his term as Vice President, he joined as a co-host of Truman’s bi-partisan talk radio show Across the Aisle. Since then, he’s been elected President of his local chapter!

Reece served as an intern in 2016 in the Koster for Governor campaign, which was his first experience in Missouri politics. Since then he’s organized for the special election in Missouri HD-144, Missouri HD-3, and volunteered in the effort to defeat Prop A as well as a number of other campaigns. Reece loves everything about St.Louis, especially the Cardinals and Sauce on the Side. He is an avid consumer of television and lists The Sopranos, Young Pope, Bojack Horseman, Game of Thrones, Veep, Better Call Saul, and C-SPAN as his favorite things to watch (in no particular order). Reece is looking forward to spending the next phase of his college career doing his part to elect progressives and fight for policies that protect workers.

Sadie Jess

Communications Director

Sadie Jess is a junior at the University of Missouri–Columbia, and she serves as president of Mizzou College Democrats. She is a sociology major with minors in Spanish and political science, although she can’t quite get enough of her Spanish classes, so she plans to officially take it on as a second major next year. After her graduation in the spring of 2020, Sadie plans to either attend law school straightaway or take a gap year to work on a campaign. Ultimately, she hopes to work as an immigration lawyer.

Sadie has been politically active throughout her collegiate career. Before being elected president of Mizzou Dems, she served as Mizzou Dems’ chief of staff during her sophomore year and communications director during her junior year. In the summer of 2017, Sadie worked as an intern in former Senator Claire McCaskill’s Kansas City office, and she spent the following summer working as a field intern for the Missouri Democratic Coordinated Campaign in an effort to help the senator win her bid for re-election. In the fall of 2018, she was promoted to Deputy Field Organizer for the MDCC. If Sadie’s not busy with Democratic activities, she’s bingeing true crime videos or semi-unironically having a Twilight marathon.

Dawson Lemmons

Political Director

Dawson Lemmons is a senior from Lee's Summit, MO. He is majoring in Journalism and Political Science. This past fall, Dawson was a legislative intern for U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill. In his free time, Dawson loves to go to concerts, find new hiking spots, and look for cute dogs to pet. Dawson is passionate about climate change, gun control, and gender equality.

Izabella Vodavicky

Development Director

Izabella Vadovicky is a junior at University of Missouri–Kansas City. There she is majoring in political science while also focusing on health sciences and women and gender studies. Bella has been active in the UMKC College Democrats chapter since she started at UMKC; after being involved for only a few months she was elected President there and is now serving her second term. She is very excited to be working as the new Director of Development for CDMO.

Bella originally got started in politics when she took an entire week off of school to attend the DNC when she was only 10 years old. Since getting involved so young, she has worked/volunteered on many campaigns including Barack Obama’s, Hillary Clinton’s and Claire McCaskill’s, to name a few. When she is not working on something politically-oriented Bella is chasing down Corgis (or any other dog), listening to podcasts, buying yet another plant, or going to a concert. She can’t wait to help CDMO grow as the new Director of Development!
